| Small, But Mighty

Glendale Shepherd is a small, family operation that excels in the production of ewe’s milk cheese here in Washington. Their fromage is not readily available at ordinary retailers. The best way to access their fare is either through a visit to their farm store on Whidbey Island, which is open year-round on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11-4, or go to one of the following Farmer’s Markets: Bayview Saturday Farmer’s Market, University District Saturday Farmer’s Market, Ballard Sunday Farmer’s Market, and the Capital Hill Sunday Farmer’s Market.

| Easy Eating

One major factor that makes Glendale Shepherd cheese a local favorite is their fromage is made from 100% ewe’s milk. Sheep milk naturally has a higher calcium, protein, and fat content than cow’s milk. This translates to a richer, sweeter, healthier, and altogether more flavorful end result. Moreover, ewe’s milk has shorter chained fatty acids than cow’s milk, which makes it easier to digest. If you are looking to indulge in high quality, delicious cheese while still nourishing your body and without digestive turmoil, then you have just found your next favorite artisan creamery!

| Flavor's the Name of the Game

Glendale Shepherd Creamery produces an array of ewe’s milk fromage, including Island Brebis and Tallulah (pictured here). Island Brebis is a Good Food Awards-winning tomme-style with a sweet, fruity note and a toasted nuttiness that is reminiscent of Croatian Paski Sir. Tallulah is a pudgy washed rind with signature b-linens nuances that are mildly funky and moreish.
